About Red Serge Chronicles

Red Serge Chronicles tells the history and culture of Canadian policing in long form: how the North-West Mounted Police became the RCMP, how the force is organized, the traditions that made it famous, and the investigations that still shape it.

Stories are researched from public records, force histories and news archives, and each one links onward to deeper resources — including the recruiting and reference guides at joinrcmp.ca.

Standards

• History first: dates, names and outcomes, with context over folklore.
• Where records are incomplete, we say so.
• Every story is fact-checked before publishing.
